As an organization we have no doubts as to the legitimacy of Nicolas Maduro’s election. Venezuela is experiencing a crisis today, and regardless of the criticism we may make to the Maduro government, we believe that the difficult moments through which the Bolivarian process passes are solved with more democracy, popular protagonism and no foreign interventionism.
In this sense, we believe that the self-proclamation of Guaidó as President of Venezuela and, moreover, the support of President Trump, seems very serious. It is unacceptable that President Piñera should follow this line, which only escalates violence and jeopardizes the sovereignty and right of self-determination of the Latin American peoples.
We call on the government of Chile to collaborate in an exit centered on political dialogue, such as the mediation proposals offered by the president of Mexico López Obrador.
